Private Shuttle from SJD Airport to Acre Baja

7 miles (11 km) 15 minutes From $69 USD*

Introduction

Acre Baja is the shortest premium transfer we run from SJD Airport — just 15 minutes door to door in normal traffic. Whether you are arriving for a dinner reservation, a stay in one of the property's nine treehouses, or a private event in the palm grove, a private Cabo airport shuttle is the only reliable way to reach Acre. The property sits on a dirt access road northwest of San José del Cabo, in a dense palm-and-mango grove that is invisible from the highway. Ride-share is not available, and arrival-night taxi rates from SJD are inflated. Our private SUV runs $69 USD flat — tolls, Mexican IVA tax, and the driver gratuity are all included. The price you book is the price you pay at the gate.

About Acre Baja and the Palm-Grove Setting

Acre is a 25-acre working farm, restaurant, mezcal bar, and boutique resort tucked into a palm grove on the outskirts of San José del Cabo. Founded by chef-restaurateur Cameron Watt, the property has become one of the most photographed dining destinations in Baja for its open-air kitchen, hammock-lounge, and the nine elevated treehouse suites that line the palm grove. The signature mezcal program — served from a thatched-roof bar at the center of the property — draws separate crowds for sunset cocktails.

Acre is open year-round for dinner and is a popular reservation for couples celebrating anniversaries, honeymooners staying elsewhere in San José or on the Tourist Corridor, and small-wedding parties under 60 guests. The dress code is relaxed-tropical (long pants and closed shoes recommended after sunset for the mosquitoes near the palm grove).

The Drive from SJD Airport to Acre Baja

Acre is the closest of any major Cabo destination to SJD Airport. From the SJD terminal, your chauffeur drives 7 miles (11 km) west on Mexico Federal Highway 1, exits toward the Las Animas neighborhood north of downtown San José del Cabo, and follows a marked dirt access road for the last 0.6 miles into the palm grove. Total drive time is 15 minutes in normal traffic and rarely exceeds 25 minutes even during the late-afternoon rush.

The unpaved final stretch is short but uneven. Rental compact cars manage it without issue, but most first-time visitors prefer the comfort and visibility of an SUV — especially after dark on the return run, since the access road has no lighting.

For dinners that end after 10:00 PM, we strongly recommend booking the round trip at the time of arrival, since outbound transportation from Acre is not always available on short notice (taxi service is not reliable in the immediate area and rideshare does not operate).

What Your Private Acre Baja Transfer Includes

Your private SJD to Acre Baja transfer is a Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, Mercedes Sprinter, or Toyota Hiace — chosen by group size. Every vehicle is late-model, fully insured, climate-controlled, and stocked with bottled water. Child car seats are available on request at no charge. Your chauffeur is bilingual (English and Spanish) and licensed for SJD Airport pickups.

The published rate includes the vehicle, the chauffeur, flight monitoring, Mexican IVA tax, and the driver gratuity. There are no separate toll charges on this route. If you want a grocery stop (La Comer, Mega, or Walmart in San José del Cabo), it adds 10-15 minutes of drive time at no extra charge. Mention it at booking or to your chauffeur on arrival.

Acre is a 15-minute transfer, so we do not charge a long-distance premium even though some competitor pricing pages list a higher rate for "scenic destinations." Our SJD to Acre price is the same flat $69 USD regardless of arrival time, weekday, or season — including the December and Easter high seasons.

Tips for Your Acre Baja Visit

Reserve your Acre table well in advance, particularly during high season (mid-December through Easter and again in July). The restaurant runs two dinner seatings, and the popular hammock-lounge tables for cocktails before dinner book out separately.

The palm grove can be buggy at dusk during the summer rainy season (July-October). We recommend long pants and a light long-sleeve layer for outdoor dining during those months. Most other times of year, mosquitoes are minimal.

If you are staying at Acre's treehouses (rather than just dining), let us know at booking — we drive directly to the property's reception path rather than the restaurant entrance, which speeds the check-in process. We can also handle outbound transfers from Acre back to SJD on the morning of your departure with a 24-hour advance notice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a private shuttle from SJD Airport to Acre Baja?
A private Cabo airport shuttle from SJD to Acre Baja starts at $69 USD per vehicle (not per person) for a Cadillac Escalade or Chevrolet Suburban with up to 6 passengers. The rate is all-inclusive: vehicle, bilingual chauffeur, Mexican IVA tax, driver gratuity, and flight monitoring. There are no tolls on the SJD-to-Acre route and no surcharges at the gate.
How long is the drive from SJD Airport to Acre Baja?
The drive from SJD Airport to Acre Baja takes about 15 minutes in normal traffic — Acre is the closest premium destination to the airport. The route is 7 miles (11 km) west on Mexico Federal Highway 1, then a 0.6-mile unpaved access road. Allow up to 25 minutes during the late-afternoon corridor rush hour.
Does Acre Baja offer transportation to and from SJD Airport directly?
Acre Baja does not operate its own transportation. Dining and overnight guests are expected to arrange their own transfer. The closest reliable option is a pre-booked private shuttle — taxi service is unpredictable in the area, especially for late-night returns, and rideshare apps do not operate at SJD Airport or anywhere in Los Cabos.
Can the driver wait while we have dinner at Acre Baja?
Yes. Most guests book the round trip — your chauffeur drops you, leaves the property, and returns at the scheduled time you set. We also offer flat-rate hourly wait service if you prefer the chauffeur to stay on-site. Rates are locked at booking and never surge, even for late-night returns after 11:00 PM.
Are there alternatives to a private shuttle from SJD to Acre Baja?
In practice, no. Uber and other rideshare apps do not operate at SJD Airport or in Los Cabos. SJD-area taxis charge inflated arrival-night fares and rarely have child car seats. Shared van services do not run to Acre because of its short distance and unpaved access road. A pre-booked private SUV is the only reliable option.
