Cabo Airport Shuttle vs Taxi vs Shared Van from SJD
Private Shuttle, Airport Taxi or Shared Van from SJD
There are three common ways to get from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) to your hotel: a pre-booked private shuttle, an airport taxi, or a shared van. A private Cabo airport shuttle is booked before you fly, priced per vehicle and driven directly to your address. An airport taxi is bought at a counter after you land. A shared van is sold per seat and stops at other hotels on the way. Cabo Black Shuttle runs private vehicles only, from $65 USD one-way to San Jose del Cabo and $85 to Cabo San Lucas for up to 5 passengers.
Private Cabo Airport Shuttle: Booked Ahead, Priced per Vehicle
A private Cabo airport shuttle is reserved online before the trip. The fare is fixed for the whole vehicle and shown before you confirm, your flight is tracked, and the airport representative meets you at Umbrellas 3 & 4 outside the terminal with a CABO BLACK sign. The vehicle carries only your party and goes directly to your hotel, villa or address.
Because the fare is per vehicle, the cost per person falls as the group grows. The Chevrolet Suburban to Cabo San Lucas is $85 USD for up to 5 passengers, the Toyota Hiace is $90 for up to 10, and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is $140 for up to 15. Tolls are included, and a 16% IVA tax applies only when paying by card.
Airport Taxi from SJD vs a Private Cabo Airport Shuttle
Airport taxis at SJD are bought at a counter after you land, and the fare is set there by destination zone. There is nothing to arrange in advance, which suits a traveler who decides on arrival. The fare is not known before the flight, and nobody is tracking your flight or waiting for you by name.
With a private shuttle the fare, the vehicle and the meeting point are confirmed in writing when you book, and child car seats or a shopping stop are added to the same reservation.
Shared Van from SJD vs a Private Cabo Airport Shuttle
A shared van sells individual seats and carries several parties, so it stops at other hotels and may wait for other passengers before it leaves the airport. For one traveler, paying for a single seat can cost less than a private vehicle.
For a couple, a family or a group, compare the total of the seats with one private fare. A private shuttle leaves when your party is ready, makes no stops for other passengers, and its fare does not change with the number of passengers up to the capacity of the vehicle.
Which SJD Airport Transportation Fits Your Trip
Choose a private Cabo airport shuttle when you want the price fixed before you fly, a direct ride, a driver who is waiting for your flight, or room for a family, luggage or golf bags in one vehicle. It is also the practical option for long transfers: SJD to Todos Santos is $160 USD and SJD to La Paz is $230 one-way in the Suburban.
Rideshare pickup at SJD is restricted, so the choice at the airport is between these three services.
